The first personal exhibition in China by the Greek painter and sculptor, Kostis Georgiou, in the Museum of Fine Arts in Suzhou, one of the oldest cradles of the Chinese civilization, will be inaugurated tomorrow, January 20th, 2012, in the presence of the Ambassador of Greece in China, Mr. Theodore Georgakelos.
As guest of Honor at the Museum of Fine Arts in Suzhou, which was inaugurated in February 2011, the artist selected for the exhibition entitled Opus Omega major paintings and sculptures, depicting all aspects of his creation from 1990 t0 now and highlighting his fundamental request for bringing avant – garde spirit into Art and life.
As the Ambassador of Greece in China, Mr. Georgakelos stresses, the exhibition “will contribute to the knowledge of Chinese public on modern Greek Art and the friendly relations between our two people”, because “culture is the best way to develop the friendship and cooperation between people”.
In the works of the exhibition, we notice that the artist, breaking away from traditional methods and compositions, creates with dynamic forms and primary colors a “personal universe”, and introduces the visitor in the process of “a trip beyond any limit”, as he states, referring to his work.
In a letter to Kostis Georgiou, the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, George Nikitiades, states that he is elated for the honorable recognition of the artist by the Chinese state, and congratulates him for the exhibition.
The exhibition, organized by the Qu Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Suzhou, will last till March 20th, 2012.
