There are few Greek nationals registered with the Embassy’s Consular Office, but it is estimated that there are around one hundred Greeks living in various cities across China (Shanghai, Canton, Hong Kong). Hong Kong is also the site of the Metropolitan Church of Hong Kong and South-East Asia, which comes under the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

A restaurant, dedicated to the presentation of authentic Greek gastronomy to Beijingners, opened recently in Chaoyang district. The “XILA MEIWEI/ GREEK DELICACY” is owned by Mr. Vangelis Giannakaros.
The restaurant aims at acquainting Chinese public with the benefits of Greece’s renowned, both healthy and delicious, diet based on natural ingredients including the famed olive oil imported directly from Greece.

Teetering on the brink of its first year anniversary, the restaurant is a hybrid of Greek myth and hutong, a place where two of the oldest recorded civilizations come together in harmony. But for owner Vangelis Giannakaros, it's something much simpler, it's home. "I feel at home here and I wanted my customers to feel at home as well," Giannakaros said.
